Art of Elan’s Sounds & Swells at the California Surf Museum

Art of Elan’s popular Sounds & Swells series returns with two unforgettable cinematic and musical experiences: at the Fleet Science Center’s Giant Dome Theater (May 18) and at the California Surf Museum (May 20). Newly commissioned surfing footage by McCracken Films and Jimmy Wilson captures the breathtaking beauty of the California coastline and its iconic “swells” that draw surfers and visitors from around the globe. Set against this stunning backdrop, live classical music performed by the Hausmann Quartet, featuring works by California composers John Adams, Terry Riley, and others.

The California Surf Museum was founded in 1986 and has been in operation for three decades serving tens of thousands of annual visitors from over 40 nations around the globe. With a permanent collection which chronicles the history of surfboards and wave-riding, the museum also offers many revolving exhibits each year. In its current museum-quality space, it has acquired a rare set of archives and collections gathered over more than 30 years, comprising one of the world’s richest troves of surfing history.
